OpenVPN Client Installation and Application

The SoftetherVPN server supports the openvpn protocol. Using a OpenVPN client can establish a VPN tunnel with it. Since OpenVPN can provide clients that support multiple operating systems (Windows, Mac OS X, linux, Android, ios, etc.), it is widely used. This article takes Windows system as an example to introduce the installation and use of the OpenVPN client.

1. Get the configuration file:

SoftetherVPN ServerThe "OpenVpnMakeConfig ~/" command on the page will generate this configuration file in the /root directory:

Download to the local and unzip the file:

2. Download and install the client software OpenVPN GUI:

From the OpenVPN official website:

Download the corresponding 32-bit or 64-bit software according to your computer operating system. Double-click the software to install after downloading:

3. Import configuration files and connect:

After installation , an icon will appear in the lower right corner of the screen:

As shown in the figure above, right-click the OpenVPN icon, and a menu will pop up. Click "Import Configuration File":

Right-click the OpenVPN icon to pop up a menu, click "Connect":

In the pop-up interface, enter the user name and password, and "OK". The connection is successful, the icon turns green, as shown in the figure below:

You can use the following final-level IP hiding test URL to test whether your actual IP address is hidden.

To disconnect, click the OpenVPN icon with the right mouse button to pop up a menu and click "Disconnect":

The above is the installation and use process on the WINDOWS system computer, which feels very simple.

The installation and use on iPhone, iPad and android phones is basically the same. Download the OpenVPN client from the store , open the software, import the configuration file, and enter the user and password to connect and establish a VPN. It is also very easy.
